Many scientists consider humans as the most invasive species, as humans can greatly change an environment and impact living things that reside there. Attention in the media has been focused on negative consequences due to human interaction (i.e. deforestation).
However around the world people are taking steps to sustain the biodiversity of our ecosystems. Research and present a specific situation in the world (i.e. organizations, initiatives, projects, etc.) where human intervention is being used to positively affect the biodiversity of our ecosystems.
There are many organizations in the world that devote themselves to the preservation of our ecosystem. The world has gone through many changes in its years and many of these changes have not been for the better. Today, people are trying to conserve what we have left and if possible, make it better for the generation tomorrow. A simple example of this would be our very own Mary Ward Club: Green Quest. This club focuses on helping the environment as well as keeping things green.

The recent oil spill has most definitely taken the lives of much underwater wildlife and may still be on its way to spreading even further. The NWF is currently raising awareness regarding the issue as well as going to the actual site, volunteers pouring in to help minimize the impact the spill had. They spread out to search for any stray animals that may be lost in the oil spill or are flying/swimming right into it. They have rehab centers in which the animals that have been found can recover from the effects of the oil spill as well as get cleaned up.

They partner with other organizations in order to increase their efforts in finding lost animals and restoring them back to full health. All in all, they are fighting human intervention with human intervention. This makes out to have a very positive effect, not only in the area of the oil spill, but in general. It sets an example for the rest of the world that we can make a good difference in the world and help it to take a step into a new, clean world.

it's good that NWF is helping out the situation with the oil spill but they should also focus on other important ecosystems that need to be helped. Deforestation, is the most common type of habitat that gets destroyed. The NWF said that they would try and help the birdlife and forest are a good place when you'll find birds making their nests there.
But we should still appreciate the NWF because they're doing something that a lot of organizations don't doo often which is actually going to the site instead of just talking about it. More organizations should do what they're doing.
As an animal-lover myself, I find it so heartbreaking to see the number of animals being killed rising during the oil spill. I am so glad that NWF is bringing up our attention to this and urging us to help these animals.
The changes that these organizations aren't impossible... it's just really difficult to change our ways in our daily life. But like Michael said, having NWF to encourage us to stop pollution and care for our environment might just help us to minimize our wrongdoings.
Oil spills has got to be one of the most devastating forms of pollution because of the damage they have on wildlife and their habitats. Oil spill clean ups can take months and still leave oil residues behind. Moreover, the unfortunate animals caught in the spill would have their bodies drenched in a sticky black substance. Taking birds as an example, the thick black oil is too heavy for the birds to fly so they attempt to clean themselves. As the bird tries to eat the oil to clean their feathers, they in turn poison themselves. And I find that really heartbreaking.
However, it's pleasing to the heart to know that an organization like NWF has the devotion to raise the awareness of minimizing pollution and doing all they can to reverse the negative outcomes of the recent oil spill. They are generally spreading the word about the importance of biodiveristy.
I think that it is true the humans can change the world. NWF is a great group that help prevent humans from changing the world even more. I also like the fact that Green Quest is also trying to keep all things "Green".
I like the fact that NWF helps tries to help animals from oil spills. It is really cool that we humans have a organization that does whatever they can to save animals. Take the birds that are covered in oil, NWF finds lost birds and help them clean up so they could fly again.
Overall, I think that NWF is a very interesting organization and I got lots of information from this article.
